Large steel capability
As the largest privately owned steel group in Australia, Southern Steel Group employs over 1,300 people in 26 businesses, with its head office in Sydney’s Milperra.
The Southern Steel Group’s aim is to satisfy Australia’s demand for steel, be it for construction, engineering, transport or manufacturing.
Our distribution businesses buy steel directly from the steel mills and store them in their warehouses, ready for sale to their customers.
Our steel product businesses sell strong, structural steel, while our sheet & coil businesses cut and bend the steel into a wide range of products that are used in the manufacturing and construction industries.

In order to cater to all our customers, the distribution businesses need to carry a wide range of stock and offer an efficient delivery service.
Southern Steel Group guarantees next-day delivery on all standard items, and we ensure we employ capable employees who make it happen.
Our steel processing businesses deliver services including cutting, drilling and bending of steel.
They receive the steel from one of our distribution businesses and shape it to the customer’s exact specifications.
This work requires great skill and craftsmanship, and the finished product is always spectacular.
